Job prospects in licensed practical nursing, registered nursing, and more advanced nursing fields such as nurse practitioner, clinical nursing specialist, nursing anesthisist, and certified nursing-midwife are expected to grow faster than the average occupation through 2010.

Note that some of the more advanced nursing jobs are only available to those who have obtained a higher level of nursing training such as a BS in nursing or an MS in nursing. Many new nursing jobs will result as thousands of nurses leave the profession, and demand continues to rise. Nursing school graduates will be well positioned to find jobs and advance their careers.
